About Me
Rebecca Greene, LCSW, is a mental health therapist, author, and speaker who helps children and adults build emotional resilience, cultivate meaningful friendships, develop a deeper sense of belonging, and navigate life with greater self-understanding.
She writes about social-emotional themes including friendship, kindness, belonging, emotional resilience, and overcoming challenges.
Rebecca is the author of five children’s books: My Perfect Cupcake: A Recipe for Thriving with Food Allergies; Creating Kindness; Trick or Treat with Me; My Amazing Grandfriend; and Explore Virginia with Me. Her children’s books have won several awards, and are regularly used by school counselors and therapists to teach social-emotional learning concepts.
Her self-help books for adults include Making Friends as an Adult for Dummies (Wiley: 2024); One and Done: The Guide to Raising a Happy & Thriving Only Child (Familius: 2023); The Teenagers’ Guide to School Outside the Box (Free Spirit Publishing); and Law School for Dummies (Wiley).
Rebecca is a licensed clinical social worker who has 14 years of experience helping people of all ages. She provides individual therapy to adults in group private practice to help them work through issues including anxiety, depression, chronic illness, perimenopause and menopause, ADHD, and aging transitions. She also has years of professional experience working with children and families in a range of settings including individual and group therapy, and has led social skills groups.
Rebecca also offers author visits to schools, libraries, non-profits, moms’ groups, museums, retirement communities, and festivals throughout the year. She offers school visits for preschool through 6th grade and offers large group assemblies as well as smaller workshops. She also leads workshops on social-emotional themes, as well as writing workshops to help people explore different publishing paths and improve their writing.
In her free time, Rebecca loves the arts, being out in nature, hiking, reading both fiction and nonfiction, leading book clubs and women’s friendship groups, and discovering new places to explore in the Mid-Atlantic region. Rebecca grew up in Ohio, has lived all over the Midwest, and now calls the Washington, DC metro area home. She lives with her husband, elementary school-aged son, and two curious Cornish Rex cats.
